The season 2001/2002 is over. :-(
For many fans this might rather be sad, but most of the athletes are pretty happy about it: After a long and hard season our biathletes honestly deserve a break. Thank you very much indeed, Andrea, for this terrific season!! In the end, as for most of the other athletes as well, strength failed a bit, but anyway, we are looking back on a fantastic season with numerous top rankings, many places on the podium and the Olympic victories in the Individual and the relay competitions. Congratulations and thanks a lot for this terrific season, Andrea! Anew in 2002/2003 !

News of 11th February 2002: Andrea wins the Gold medal in Individual

Andrea has fulfilled one of her and one of our greatest dreams and achieved something incomprehensible: She won the Olympic Gold medal in Salt Lake City! With an outstanding shooting performance (1 mistake in 4 shooting interludes) and a fantastic performance in running (even better than Liv Grete Poirée) she concluded the deserved victory. Words cannot really describe this achievement - an Olympic victory immortalizes everyone. The AHFC congratulates on this terrific performance and wishes Andrea all the best for the other competitions. You are the best !!

At present, Andrea and the German biathletes are in Canada, strictly speaking in Silverstar. There they are on a training camp to prepare for the upcoming Olympic games. Shortly before the beginning of the games they will then travel to Salt Lake City..

News of 18th January 2002: Andrea doesn’t participate in relay

Andrea has not been brought into action in the relay competition yesterday, because she is still not 100% fit again. Similar goes for Martina Glagow. After Andrea has not been able to participate in the competitions in Oberhof due to illness, she will start in the individual competitions in Ruhpolding again – good luck, Andrea !
